Before He Was Famous: X Factor Star Nathan

We received a pleasant surprise last week when British r&b singer Nathan appeared on the X Factor.
The musical grafter was trending on Twitter within an hour after his audition, which he sailed through. So it was annoying to see some bad-minded Tweeters (or shall we say twits) posting messages along the lines of, ‘how could you go on that show’, and ‘you’re fame hungry’.
Let’s get one thing straight: Nathan has been on the grind since he was 17 and appeared on our Overground Live show in 2005, when he sang his popular underground hits Come Into My Room and Round and Round (above).
He’s an independent artist; not attached to a major label, has remained consistent and gained a healthy fan base who came out in force when he appeared on Feeling Mandy Radio’s Dre Show earlier this year.
In addition, he’s toured with JLS and continues to grab the attention of music lovers across the world with his writing and vocal ability.
So now he’s decided to go on X Factor, and we think it’s a good move.
Even if he doesn’t win; worst case scenario is that he’ll increase his profile massively, and continue doing what he’s doing anyway – just with a bigger fan base.
He’s a perfect example of what these talent shows are about – if you’re smart.
