Real McCoy Cast Members Reunite for Radio

It’s been way too long since comedy shows like The Real McCoy and Goodness Gracious Me graced our TV and radios, writes Rena Dipti Annobil.

So it was good to hear that two stars of both hit programmes, Meera Syal and Kulvinder Ghir, recently reunited for a new BBC comedy series.

Last week, Meera and Kulvinder performed in front of a studio audience during an exclusive night of comedy highlighting the best of Asian talent.

The performance was part of a four-part radio series which explores the history and future of British Asian comedy, and is set to be hosted by multi-talented Meera.

Other performers include Shazia Mirza, Edinburgh Festival winner Imran Yusef and internet sensation Humza Badmann, who has racked up more than 34.5million views for his 26 videos on YouTube.

Meera’s Asian Comedy Night will air on the BBC Asian Network at 10pm on July 11 and 12.

She’ll also be starring in a new movie called All In Good Time, written by Ayub Khan-Din (East is East) and based on the hit play Rafta Rafta. It’s due to be released tomorrow (11 May).
