British Government Destroyed Evidence of Colonial Murder00:56 - Wednesday 25 April 2012 - In Categories UK News, UK Videos
The British government destroyed thousands of documents exposing how they killed and tortured natives across their colonial empire.
According to a report in the Guardian last week, other papers were hidden illegally for 50 years.
The Foreign Office only admitted to the secret stash of documents last year after a group of Kenyan Mau Maus – who’d been tortured and illegally jailed by British officers in the 1950s – won the right to sue the government.
They papers show how colonial ministers concealed evidence of widespread murder by British servicemen in Kenya and Malaya.
