Google TV on Its Way

British internet users will be able to receive Google’s highly anticipated TV service later this year, a Sony executive has claimed.
According to Sony France marketing director Stephane Labrousse, a new set-top box and Blu-ray player, which both provide access to Google TV, will launch in France in September, with a roll out due for the UK, Spain and Germany around the same time.
The service, which has been available in the US for the past 18 months, runs on Google’s Android platform and provides access to TV and movie brands such as Netflix and YouTube.
Aside from Sony, LG and Samsung have also announced plans to release new Google TV products in the UK in 2012.
