Spotify to Overtake iTunes in 2014
02:19 - Tuesday 03 April 2012 - In Categories World News, US VideosSpotify will overtake iTunes as the world’s leading online music service in 2014, according to internet entrepreneur and Napster co-founder Sean Parker.
Speaking at last month’s South by Southwest (SXSW) film, interactive and music conference, Parker said: ‘If Spotify continues growing at its current rate in terms of subscribers and users, we will overtake iTunes in terms of the amount of revenue we contribute to the music labels in under two years.’
The Spotify and Facebook investor, who was portrayed by Justin Timberlake in the film, The Social Network, added: ‘Even the iTunes store, to this day, is so slow. I’m amazed.’
