In August 1991, female rap legends Cherly ‘Salt’ James, Sandra ‘Pepa’ Denton and DJ De Dee ‘Spinderella’ Roper, reached number two with Let’s Talk about Sex.
The trio’s controversial safe sex anthem features a rhythm (Girl I’ve Got a Date) originally composed by reggae singer Alton Ellis and helped the most commercially successful rap group of all time achieve their fifth UK hit.
