Vince Cable: 'Britain Poorer and Very Difficult'
20:06 - Tuesday 21 June 2011 - In Categories UK News, Money
Business secretary Vince Cable has admitted that Britain is a poorer country due to the recession.
During a speech in central London last week, Cable explained how the country’s economic problems have caused living standards to fall.
‘The period we are living through is, despite the signs of recovery, very difficult,’ he says in the video below. ‘We’ve got a real squeeze on living standards and that is where the political pain is coming from.
‘It is not part of the political discourse, but we are actually a poorer country. The costs of the financial crash were enormous.‘
