This week marks five years since Destiny’s Child singer Beyonce Knowles stormed the UK charts with her solo hit Me, Myself and I.
The song reached number 11 in the UK charts on 24 January 2004 and held its position for seven weeks in a row.
Knowles performed the track live for her DVD, The Beyonce Experience, earning a 2009 Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
Describing the message behind the song, she explained: ‘It basically talks about a girl and a guy who’s not right for her, and he’s cheating and whatever.
‘And usually, women feel stupid and silly and they blame themselves because you have all the signs most of the time, but you love the guy so you don’t want to see them go. And in this song, it’s kind of like a celebration of the break-up.’
