The family of British music star Smiley Culture held a press conference in south London this week in a bid to uncover the ‘peculiar’ circumstances surrounding the rapper’s death.
Smiley, real name David Emmanuel, 48, died tragically on 15 March during a police raid at his home in Surrey. Bizarrely, relatives were told he stabbed himself once in the heart while making a cup of tea.
But at a packed press conference held at the Karibu Education Centre in Brixton, Smiley’s nephew, Merlin Emmanuel, said the police ‘had a lot to answer to’.
I am sadden, shocked and dismayed. Its outrageous and ridiculous, how the police have reported how he died making a cup of tea. They must think black people are apes for real! RIP Smiley Culture – gone but not forgotten.
