Footballer Birgit Prinz Inspires New Barbie Doll
04:53 - Sunday 27 February 2011 - In Categories Sport, World Videos
Toymaker Mattell recently unveiled two football-focused Barbie dolls ahead of the Women’s World Cup in Germany this summer.
The dolls are modelled after the country’s head coach, Silvia Neid, and footballer Birgit Prinz who has won the World Cup three times and scored more goals in the competition than any other female.
Neid told reporters she was flattered by the doll, but not sure what to do with it.
‘As a child I didn’t play with dolls much. I had more interest in balls and toy cars,’ she said.
The Women’s World Cup starts in Berlin on 26 June and runs until 17 July.
