David Cameron Under Fire for Promoting Gun Firms
09:40 - Monday 28 February 2011 - In Categories UK News, World Videos
During a trip to the Middle East last week, David Cameron released a statement endorsing a ‘defence’ exhibition in Abu Dhabi that was attended by 100 of Britain’s top weapons manufactures.
His comments provoked enlightening responses in the media including an article in Wednesday’s Evening Standard newspaper entitled ‘Britain is now built on betting, booze and guns‘, and the interview with Kaye Stearman of Campaign Against Arms Trade, below.
Both features offer fascinating insight into an industry that employs 300,000 people and generates £35 billion a year selling tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades to dodgy dictators throughout the Middle East and Africa.
