Buju Banton Facing 15 Years in Prison

Reggae singer Buju Banton faces at least 15 years in prison after a Florida court found him guilty of trying to organise a cocaine deal.
The jury convicted Banton on three counts after they were shown footage of the singer allegedly tasting cocaine in a warehouse, and heard tapes of him boasting to a police informant about his smuggling operation.
Last year, the case against Banton, real name Mark Myrie, was declared a mistrial after jurors failed to reach a unanimous decision.
Lawyers for the singer, who features in Overground’s list of Top 20 Reggae Albums and recently collected his first Grammy award, expect a date for sentencing next month.
