Reebok's Easytone TV Advert is a Step too Far
04:11 - Monday 13 December 2010 - In Categories UK News, Health, UK Videos
A TV advert for Reebok Easytone trainers has been banned in the UK for falsely claiming the shoes help: ‘…tone your bum and legs up to 28 per cent more than regular trainers.’
It’s unclear why the advert was allowed to run on British TV in the first place as the New York Times claimed the statistics were artificial back in December 2009.
The offending advert has been re-shot and the bogus statistics replaced with sexy footage of presenter Kelly Brook after the Advertising Standards Authority agreed that Reebok’s claims were misleading.
So, all’s well that ends well, and we’re certain that if you paid 75 pounds for a pair of Easytones you’re feeling fitter than ever, irrespective of what the ASA have to say. Watch the new advert below
