Manchester and London are the most violent cities in England, according to new research.
A study by charity, the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, says there were more victims of violent crime in north Manchester than anywhere else in the country, during the 12 months up to April 2008.
Manchester has been dubbed the UK’s ‘most dangerous place to live’ two years in a row and closely followed by Sheffield and Southampton.
But experts warn if violent crime continues to rise in the capital, London boroughs could soon fill the top spot.
Chief Executive of Suzy Lamplugh Trust, Steven Gauge said: ‘Police forces in the top ten high risk areas face a massive challenge in trying to bring down violent crime.’
