Iran's Hip Hop King Hichkas and his Bunch of Soldiers
02:59 - Wednesday 24 November 2010 - In Categories World Entertainment, World VideosWhile it may sound absurd for Overground to claim that one day (and probably in your lifetime) a rapper from the Middle East will outsell their US and British counterparts on iTunes, the increasing notoriety of Iranian hip hop star Hichkas confirms there is at least some logic to this wild assertion.
In Iran CDs are banned and western music heavily criticised, but that hasn’t stopped Hichkas, 25, forging a successful rap career and founding the biggest underground music label in Tehran, Saamet Records.
