Young X Factor Voters Back Cheryl... While Gamu is Deported from UK

X Factor reject Gamu Nhengu has been told to leave Britain by the UK Border Agency.

The talented 18-year-old was allowed to stay in the country as a dependent while her mum, Nokuthula Ngazana, studied at university.

But after all the X Factor hype, it turns out the family’s visa has run out and their application to remain in the UK has been rejected.

Now, Gamu and her family have 10 days to leave the UK voluntarily, or face deportation to their native Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, young X Factor fans have defended Cheryl Cole’s ‘controversial’ decision to chose Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel over Gamu.

X Factor voter Ellie Martin, 15, from east London told Overground: ‘I do think Gamu’s a good singer, but I believe Cheryl chose Katie and Cher for variety – nobody sings like them.

‘Why is Cheryl racist for wanting to make the show more interesting?’

Fellow East End fan of the show, Reece McDonald, 16 added: ‘Before the final 12 contestants were picked, the papers were more interested in Katie and Cher.

‘At the end of the day, the X Factor judges are going to chose the singers who they think are most popular.’
