Democracy No longer Exists, Especially in Britain
05:15 - Friday 03 September 2010 - In Category UK News
Democracy is one of the most frequently used words in British politics, but according to renowned historian and theorist Professor John Dunn, the concept of democracy no longer exists.
Speaking last week, he said: ‘Democracy is a Greek word for a particular set of arrangements a long time ago, and those arrangements essentially disappeared 2,500 years ago.
‘They haven’t much to do with the way any modern state is governed. Moderns states are much bigger and are governed through complicated public bureaucracies,’ Dunn added.
