Getting Married is Good for Your Health

Being married or in a long-term relationship improves your ability to deal with stress, a new study suggests.

Experts found that when people in stable partnerships are under pressure, they produce less stress hormones in comparison to their single counterparts.

Lead researcher Professor Dario Maestripieri says: ‘What we found is that marriage has a dampening effect on cortisol [released when the body is stressed] responses to psychological stress – and that is very new.’
