If You Or A Loved One Has Been Affected By Cancer, Read This00:41 - Saturday 22 February 2014 - In Category Health
The ladies here at Overground are on a mission to beat cancer – and we’re inviting all our female readers to join us.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, and to mark the occasion we’re gathering a group of ‘Overground’s Angels’ to get involved.
Women can walk, run or jog at Race for Life’s 5k events throughout the UK. Those wanting a bigger challenge can try the 10k routes or sign up to the new Pretty Muddy obstacles (click here to find out more).
We’ll be joining the 5k run in Victoria Park on Saturday 28th June. ‘I don’t think I know a single person who hasn’t either suffered from or been affected by cancer in some way,’ says Overground editor Akosua Annobil
‘This is an opportunity to show we’re all here to support each other through the devastating affects it can cause, and also pay tribute to our loved ones who have courageously won, or sadly lost their battle with cancer.’
Emma Hyatt, Head of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, said: ‘We want all women from across the UK, regardless of their age, shape or fitness level, to unite against cancer and walk, run or jog at Race for Life this summer.
‘Every step taken and every pound raised will help to fund our life-saving research into all 200 types of cancer affecting both men and women.’
Remember… Those unable to join in can also show their support by sponsoring, cheering on or volunteering on the day!
