Hoxton Welcomes First Classic RnB Residency23:36 - Friday 10 January 2014 - In Categories
After a six-month trial, monthly classic and 90s rnb party Just Kick It has become a permanent resident at Charlie Wright’s International Bar in Hoxton.
Overground editor and media entrepreneur Akosua Annobil launched Just Kick It last summer after identifying a nostalgic gap in the nightclub market.
‘I launched Just Kick It for a generation of authentic r&b lovers who are not being catered for on the clubbing scene,’ she told The Voice newspaper at the time.
‘We welcome those who want to reminisce, sing and dance in a friendly, care-free environment.’ Read more here
Since its launch, Just Kick It has been hailed a refreshing and welcome change for those who like to party in Shoreditch. One regular said: ‘The music is so good! It’s very refreshing to come out and see people who love rnb take it back to the 90s and enjoy the music. It’s a good vibe all round.’
Charlie Wright’s events manager Mike Calderbank says: ‘Just Kick It adds a different dimension into our monthly programme. It’s a night full of nostalgia for the over 25s, with a perfect blend of being not too serious and not too cheesy.
‘There’s always a great atmosphere and positive vibes. We’re looking forward to kickin’ it even more in 2014!’
