Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain00:18 - Saturday 07 September 2013 - In Category US Entertainment
Fans of Kevin Hart clamoured into Cineworld in O2 Greenwich recently for the London premiere of the Kevin Hart’s new, documentary-style film Let Me Explain, writes Winsome ‘Lyrical Healer’ Duncan.
The film, from Hartbeat Productions, is the fourth highest ranking comedy in US box office history, having grossed over $29 million so far.
On arrival to the premiere, I was promptly ushered to my seat. However, I managed to catch a glimpse of Kevin chilling in the VIP area with his security; he looked calm and posed.
Let Me Explain is set in New York’s Madison Square Garden over two days, reaching Kevin’s biggest audience of 30,000 people to date.
Hart’s stand up is a candid piece of work that addresses the ups and downs of his post-divorce journey (he split with his ex wife Torrei in 2011 and the gossip rumour mill went into overdrive).
He pokes fun at his pain, which on some level has been therapeutic during his transition to being a single man. What stood out for me was his perspective on ‘crazy women’ – I laughed until tears rolled down my cheek.
At the end of the film we had a question and answer session with the man himself. I was first to put my hand up among the sea of people. I asked Kevin: ‘What has sustained your career throughout your darkest moments?’ He replied: ‘My family and friends help me to keep grounded; I have a great solid network that supports me. It’s the little things that matter most.’
Let Me Explain gets a five-star rating from me, however parental guidance is advised. It was released in the UK on Friday 6 September 2013.
