The fastest man on earth Usain Bolt thinks it will take years to convince people he's a drug-free sprinter.
Bolt, 23, is the World 100 metres, 200 metres and 4x100 metres relay champion, and the first man to hold the 100 and 200m Olympic and World titles simultaneously.
However, last year, Ethiopian long distance runner Haile Gebrselassie was forced to defend the Jamaican after ex-sprinter Carl Lewis suggested he may be using drugs.
Speaking in London last week, Bolt appeared indifferent towards fresh rumours which surfaced following his record-breaking sprints at the Berlin World Champions in August.
He said: 'As soon as you start running fast there's going to be a problem. It's going to take a couple of years for people to start believing that you're actually clean.
'If you continue running fast and doing it clean then, over a period of time, all the tainting will go away. People will continue to say it until that period of time.'
He added: 'People always say things, the sport has been through a lot. But it's changing, definitely. The IAAF is doing a very good job of cleaning up the sport.'
